Sammy Gyamfi Arrest: CID Officers Acted Professionally; Didn’t Treat Our Client Like Thief – Lawyer Amaliba

Counsel for NDC National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, has commended officers of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for exhibiting professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

According to lawyer Abraham Amaliba, the CID accorded Sammy Gyamfi respect with regard to his fundamental human rights.

“They have power of arrest but what is important for us is that the Police did not manhandle him. They didn’t treat him like he was a thief. Let me commend the CID Boss and his officers; they were very professional. What is important is that they have respected his human rights”, Lawyer Abraham Amaliba said on Kasapa news.

Sammy Gyamfi has been granted police inquiry bail following his arrest.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) picked him up after a live programme on UTV Monday morning.

The police secured a warrant from the court to interrogate Sammy Gyamfi for allegedly  possessing forged documents and the publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm contrary to section 166 and 208 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (ACT 29) respectively.

The police have granted him bail to two sureties to report on every Monday at 2 pm for further investigations.
