Samuel Nyamekye And Jackson K Bentum Are The Only Saviours Left For Kumawood

No one will deliberately refuse a good movie that educates, encourages, entertains and helps one in making an informed decision in life and ‘beyond’. In fact, watching movies has helped cure the highest percentage of boredom to have existed. According to some researches, lonely people take movies as their companions.

In other words, watching movies is not as a wasteful venture like people portray it to be but rather a useful one capable of making one a reliable person in future because of the few positive virtues in the movie. Older movies such as “Kumasi Nyonko” and others were the best CDs newly wedded couples had from the family heads as a way of admonishing them to be weary of bad neighbours who work assiduously to ensure the downfall of those who are happy.

The brains behind these wonderful Kumawood movies, devoid of unnecessary comical scenes but filled with sociocultural stuff capable of serving as a preaching sermon for a whole year, were Samuel Nyamekye and Jackson K. Bentum. These genius movie directors (even in the lack of resources) and producers supervised and marketed so many sensible movies a decade or two ago.

Recent stroll on Multi TV dish led me to stay glued to Agyapa TV where they showcase several Kumawood movies which were produced by the aforementioned gentlemen. The contents these men envisaged those days and had the vigor of pushing the products into the market tells it all. If not for anything, the attempt they made to rush Kumawood to Hollywood level is quite laudable. The movies from the camps of these men which featured the likes of David Dontoh, Maame Dokono, Agya Koo, Apostle John Prah, Mercy Aseidu, Nana Ama McBrown, Borga Silvia, and others, had so much sense of creativity that was just superb watching their handiworks.

In my candid opinion which will never be tagged as any worthy word of caution, Samuel Nyamekye and Jackson K Bentum should be joining Okraku Mantey on the Creative Arts board just to revamp the unattractive nature of the Kumawood.

I earnestly hope this observation of mine will be taken into consideration. What do you make of this?
