Seen The 16-Year-Old Appointed By GFA As Youngest Referee In Ghana? Here’s All You Need To Know!



Christopher Okpoti Adjei, who is just 16 years old Junior High School student in Ghana has become the youngest referee ever after his appointment from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

According to various online reports, the teenager was selected as part of an initiative by the GFA to train young referees in the country at a young age so that they can have more time serving the fraternity.

A report on the GFA’s website unveils that the association had launched the “Catch Them Young Refereeing” programme designed to identify, educate and train young talents between the ages of 13-16 to officiate juvenile matches within their regions.


In an interview, the young teenage boy explained that he really started refereeing at the age of 13 and went through a series of oppositions from families and friends because of his choice.

“What motivates me is that I watch Daniel Laryea’s and I say this referee is very good and brilliant, so I want to be like him, so everyday morning when I wake up and pray, I tell God to let me reach where Daniel Laryea has reached”, Chris added in the interview.
