SEXUAL EDUCATION TO BE EMBEDDED IN OUR CURRICULUM?
The set of courses, coursework, and their content, offered at a school are very important in our educational system.
Ghana has just caused a massive change in the old syllabi to give in for the new Standards Based Curriculum that saw over 150,000 teachers trained nationwide to meet the new changes at hand.
Interestingly, at the beginning of next term, five-year-olds will study comprehensive sexuality education in Ghanaian public schools.
Officials are with the opinion that the subject content would, however, be age-appropriate, so the toddlers would be empowered with values that would protect them from sexual harassment at an early stage or later in life. This according to them will create adequate awareness for both sexes but most especially for “the girl child”.
Have you ever attempted to teach your kids about their sexuality? Will you support or frown upon this new directive from GES?
