Singer Kaakie to hit five cities with ‘Kaakit Up’ tour

36559369_205221Sexy dancehall artiste, Grace Kaaki Awo Ocansey known on stage as Kaakie is set to embark on an impressive five-city tour to educate and entertain her cherished fans.

Dubbed the Kaakit Up tour, Kaakie will perform, interact and create awareness on maternal health in five selected cities – Tamale, Sunyani, Kumasi, Takoradi and Accra – in Ghana.

She will also support maternal units in the hospitals of the five cities during the tour.

The tour, which will kick off in Tamale on May 26, 2013, was launched at a colourful ceremony at the Silverbird Lounge at the Accra Mall, Thursday.

Speaking at the launch, the Too Much hit singer said, “Along the line, we realized that there were so many people out there who love the Kaakie music and so this is the easiest way to reach out to our fans and we are doing that in two ways – entertainment wise and health wise.”

“About the entertainment, we are reaching out to them through the concert at Tamale, Takoradi, Sunyani, Kumasi and Accra. With the health wise, it’s always been something on my heart and now we have decided to target maternal health issues and fetal health issues. Our society is going to benefit from the tour as well as we the young people,” Kaakie noted.

After the Tamale show, Sunyani, Kumasi, Takoradi and Accra will also witness the dancehall diva, who has recently started a re-branding campaign, in action between August 24 to September 21, 2013.

She will soon announce the names of other artistes who will join her on the tour.

Kaakie, who is an aspiring nurse, told Myjoyonline.com in an interview after the launch that through the tour, “my fans and myself will be closer, will be able to relate and associate with me both on stage and off the stage.”

She noted that there are a lot of cases when it comes to maternal health and “we cannot [adequately fight] these cases but at least we want to start with the young girls” who will be leaving school and become mothers.

Kaaki said, with the support of her team and fans, she hopes to educate women and nursing mothers on effective maternal life and also on how to prevent preventable diseases like malaria.
