Stephanie Benson Performs@ +233 on Easter Saturday

The truth be told, Stephanie Benson rings just a silent musical bell which gathers global patronage anytime it bellows.

This is not a fluke but a fact – because any person who has listened to her sing says one thing: “She is awesome!” In essence, Stephanie is a maker of good music!

And when she performs, it is incredibly fantastic! No wonder His Royal Highness Prince Charles, of the Great Britain, concluded, after watching her perform, that: “You are one of the most amazing performers I’ve ever seen”.

Indeed, she is one of the best, if not the finest. Born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, Stephanie has risen to become one of the world’s
favourite, especially in jazz music. But she has never performed in her birth-country, where music enthusiasts have longed to watch her perform.

Now the wait is over, because the ‘queen’ of jazz music is set to put up a show for her compatriots on Easter Saturday (April 7) at the popular +233 pub in Accra. It is an evening affair.

Though she feels comfortable calling it “simple,” because she won’t be performing with her own band, Stephane nevertheless promises to deliver a “fantastic” performance.

“Yes, this going to be my first show here and though my band is not here, I’ve been rehearsing with the +233 band and it’s going to be fantastic,” she said in an interview on Thursday.

Stephane would take to the stage and deliver some of her songs that have earned her global acclaim, such as ‘A’int No Body,’ ‘Every Woman,’ and ‘Stand Together.’

She would also partner with some of the country’s finest acts, like Okyeame Kwame – with whom she has recorded a single, and some other foreign acts.

“It’ll be great and expect everybody to be there,” she added, dedicating her first performance
in Ghana to her aunt, Huda Ampaa, who will be celebrating her birthday Saturday.

Who Is Stephanie Benson?

Stephanie Benson was born and raised in her country home of Ghana and began studying the piano at the tender aged of 3. This early desire to play the piano was a direct result of her father playing the piano in the evenings before bedtime. At the age of 8, she was sent to the
National Academy of Music, where she also learned to play the violin and cello.

During these early years Stephanie developed and honed her musical craft until at 14, when she moved to London following the death of her father.

Under the watchful eye of her uncle in London, Stephanie channeled her energies on the piano, playing, to the extent that she got a residency singing and playing the piano at one on London’s famous nightclubs.

It was during this period that Stephanie was spotted by Peter Waterman who signed her to his label PWL. With PWL Stephanie released her first recorded single ‘Now is the Time,’ which earned her a top 20 position on the UK dance charts. Stephanie began a promotional tour across Europe until the relationship with PWL came to an end.

After this period Stephanie started developing her writing skills and began writing and collaborating with other writer/artists including the likes of Andy Hill (Bucks Fizz), Terry Britton(Tina Turner) Danny Schogger (Celine Dion), Wayne Vaughn (Earth Wind and Fire), Rob Davis
(Kylie Minogue), and Stevie Wonder among others.

It was during this period that Stephanie began focusing and developing her live performances, as a solo artist and with a full live band in support.

Performing for many noted high-end clients and celebrities at prestigious and private events, She has on more than one occasion been invited by Britain’s royal family and HRH Prince Charles, who, the first time he heard Stephanie perform, told her, “You are one of the most amazing performers I’ve ever seen”.
