Successful Launch: Framework on Police – Media Relations and Safety of Journalists in Tamale.
According to information available at the Ghana Police Service’s official website, a regional dissemination forum on the Framework on Police-Media Relations has been held in Tamale for the Northern region.
Further details unveil that the Forum was attended by a cross section of Police Officers and Journalists in Tamale; the Media Foundation for West Africa, the Ghana Journalist Association and other media stakeholders who came up with concrete modalities for stronger Police- Media collaborations in the electioneering period in the Northern region.
At the said forum, Professor Kwame Karikari, Consultant to the Framework underscored the need for both the Police and the Media to work independently as guaranteed by the 1992 Constitution and also to work harmoniously for the benefit of the public to whom both institutions serve. He called on the Police Administration to cascade the Framework, which has been officially adopted to every Police Officer.
The Deputy Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Moses Asabigna Atibilla called on all stakeholders to work assiduously to ensure a peaceful, safe and secured Elections 2020. He did the regional launching of the Framework on Police – Media Relations and Safety of Journalists, on behalf of the Regional Police Commander, COP. Mr. Timothy Yoosa Bonga.
