There was joy in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital in the early hours of Monday, when the Sunyani Traditional Council successfully enstoolled a 61- year old educationist as Paramount Queen-Mother of the Traditional Area.
Nana Akosua Duah Asor Brayie II, a Royal of Boahenkokor Asenie Kodi Adonten family occupied the stool which became vacant barely two years ago, following the demise of Nana Yaa Nyamaa Poduo II.
She was known in private life as Mrs
Nana Poduo II died in August 1, 2019 after a short illness. She was 64.
At a colourful ceremony held at the Sunyani Old Palace, NanaBosoma Asor Nkrawiri II, the Paramount Chief of Sunyani Traditional Area took Nana Bayie II through traditional rites to seal her installation.
Several natives and residents who thronged the old Sunyani Palace at the Victoria Park to witness the ceremony could hide their joy as they were sighted dancing to traditional music and drumming.
Nana Yeboah Asiamah, the chief linguist of Nana Nkrawiri II out-doored the new queen-mother who was selected by the Gyasse Royal Family of the Traditional Council.
In her acceptance speech, Nana Bayie II thanked the Gyaase family, the traditional council and the entire Sunyani natives and residents and pledged to justify the confidence they have reposed by pushing the development of Sunyani forward.
