Talent alone is not enough-Daina Hopeson
Daina Hopson (Daina Akiwumi) a renowned veteran musician has added her voice to the many that believe that you need academic training not only talent. She made this statement at the Pentecost Convention Center,Gomoa Fetteh during a PENSA(Pentecost Students and Associates) conference.The ultra-modern Pentecost convention center is the first ever convention center in Ghana. The facilities at the convention center is second to none: it has international standards with hostel,suite,canteen and conference facilities ranging from 3000 to 5000 sitting capacity. She further explained that when one has talent and doesn't have knowledge one cant really excel and have control over their progress. One needs education to have a headway and not to be deceived by others. She went on further to explain the diversities of art to the students. She also said art is all around us and we are all artist in one way or the other. God is an artist and as Christians believe their made in his image then they continue to be artiste like their God.
In 2006, she met Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson, and they got married in 2007. That same year, she was given a National Honors Award by the president of the republic of Ghana, President John Agyekum kuffour, forher support for the Arts industry. Few months afterward, Daina became the President of MUSIGA and the chairman of the Interim management board of the Copyright society of Ghana (COSGA) she was involved in Policy making and several projects that advanced the course of the Music industry in Ghana. She handed over my presidency in 2011, having served a full term of four (4) years.
Presently she is the Vice President of Generation for Christ International and the Deputy Director of Reconciliation Alliance Consult (RAC Consult) and the Center for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR) she is also involved in the Performing Arts – Music Production, Ministration, Counselling and ADR.
