Teacher’s Reposting: Don’t accept Teachers with 3rd class or Pass

The Shama District Education Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned its Human Resource Directorate to desist from accepting teachers who graduated with 3rd Class into the District.

The directorate made this known to its Human Resource Division to be communicated to teachers who are interested in coming to teach in the district.

Interrogations

Further interrogations confirmed the statement, but further clarifications indicate that the order came from the Regional Directorate.

Background

It will be recalled that the Ghana Education Service (GES) earlier announced date for the commencement of District and Regional Transfers of teachers for the 2021/22 Academic year.

The GES in a letter issued by its of Human Resource Management Division, Mrs Adjoa Van Vicker on July 15, 2021, to all regional directors of education, indicated that the reposting/transfer process shall commence from 1, 2021.

The letter further indicated, that all transfers, though shall commence on August 1, 2021, will take effect from January 2022.

Reasons

Explaining reasons for the commencement of the reposting process in August 2021 and it taking full effect in January 2022, the GES said repostings are mostly done by the end of an Academic year.

The GES further indicated, that in order not to disrupt the flow of teaching and learning, it was prudent the transfers take effect from January 2022 since the Academic year started in January, 2021 and shall end in December 2021.

Assurance Letters

The GES said all Regional Directors of Education should also know that the issuance of Assurance letters will take effect from August 1, 2021

Completed Applications

Completed Applications for inter-regional postings are expected to be forwarded to the GES Headquarters by September 30, 2021.

Caution

The GES has however cautioned that any seeking reposting can be released after the Director General has approved and issued a reposting letter to the applicant.
