THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF EDUCATION LAUNCHES GHANA TEACHER PRIZE (GTP) 2021

The Ministry of Education through the National Teaching Council has launched the 2021 edition of Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP) at NAGRAT Lyceum (Dr. Christian Addai-Poku Hall) on Wednesday, 18th August, 2021. This occasion was graced by the Hon. Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. Ntim Fourdjour as a representative of the Hon. Minister of Education, sponsors of GTP, heads of agencies, teacher unions and people in academia.

GTP has been an annual ritual used to provide merit awards to teachers who are identified as having rendered extraordinary services in their line of duty. It is a great occasion where we set aside a day to recognise the indelible contributions and very important contributions that members of our noble profession have giving and done so far, in the spirit of nation building.

The Registrar of NTC, Dr. Christian Addai-Poku, officially welcomed all the guests to the event and showed his appreciation to all the sponsors who have agreed to partner the National Teaching Council in executing this worthy course. The top twenty finalists comprising fifteen teaching and five non-teaching were announced.

The Director General of GES, Prof. Kwasi Opoku Amankwa instituted a Special DG Award for teachers in the early grade. This initiative is a means to motivate teachers in the early grade to give out their all since the foundation of the Ghanaian school going child depends on them.

The Hon. Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. Ntim Fordjour officially launched the Ghana Teacher Prize 2021 under the theme: “Teachers wanted: Reclaiming Teaching and Learning for a Human-Centered Recovery”
