The fundamentals of our economy are so weak – Kwesi Pratt replies Dr. Bawumia

The managing editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior has dismissed the claims of the Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia that Ghana’s economy is now buoyant.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, Kwesi Pratt said it is impossible for Ghana’s economy to be buoyant when oil prices have fallen in the international market, gold prices are down, and so on.

“The fundamentals of our economy are so weak now. I challenged Dr. Bawumia in 2016 when he said Ghana was not going to borrow again, because with the type of economy we run it is impossible not to borrow” he said.

Buttressing his point, he further stated the shares we get from our natural resources too are poorly bargained. We lamented the paltry 4% we get from all our gold mines and foreigners taking over 90% of our own mineral resources.
