There are so many things that scare the hell out of people. Some people are afraid of height, death, depression, divorce, bankruptcy and so on and so forth. But one of the most serious fears of life that we all ignore is old age.
Whilst we continually make plans to strive forward in life and enjoy it as whole, we should also think about our old age as well. After retirement, when we have emptied our nest (that is when our children have left us), how would life treat us?
Most people are afraid of old age but would never admit it openly. What awaits us during that period is strictly uncertain and would forever remain a mystery.
During that period, will we be pushed into nursing homes against our wish or we would be allowed to stay in our homes to manage ourselves. Will we also act weird towards new technologies in our old age as we see our older folks acting now?
The most intriguing issue is that we are not even sure whether we will live to meet that stage or otherwise but I’m pretty sure that it won’t be an easy experience.
No matter how scared we are of this, we need to relax and put in place adequate preparations towards our necessary end. It could be financial, spiritual or any other appropriate measure deemed useful.
The fear of old age should remind us of the fact that we will one day be like our grandparents.
How are you treating yours now if they’re still alive? Is it okay if you are given the same treatment ?
