The 3rd Edition of Ghana meets Naija took place at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on the 29th of June, 2013. The concert was hosted by one of Ghana’s finest presenters, KOD. He lived up to expectation on the night and gave patrons a new dimension of his persona by rapping and dancing.
When Jupiter was making money, Stonebwoy pulled up, Shata Wale chanted he is the Dancehall King, Bisa made ghosts dance azonto, Double sparked their motor, E. L delivered the dowry to Auntie for the marriage of her daughter whilst singing Hallelujah with M.anifest that made Kwaw Kese descend with an angelic costume.
Joey B had a wonderful cocktail with strawberry and ginger, D – Black was betrayed by Vera but because of love he still wanted to change her life. Edem stunned every one by showing why he reaches for the heavens whilst others are reaching for the sky and to the surprise of many he gave a flash back of how Hip – Life started by giving his rendition of most of the hit songs in the late 90s. Nana Ama McBrown is known for great acting skills but she thrilled the audience when she performed royal lady in a Hi – Life tempo supported by Kumawood Superstar Kwaku Manu.
Dr. Sid from Naija changed the terrain when he popped champagne showing characteristics of a Lady Don Dada. Raquel stole the hearts of the audience with “Sweetio” and “Lovi Lovi”. Timaya delivered a round trip ticket of life to the audience illustrating plantain selling, thanking God for talent, asking God to come down and manifest His power and not forsaking the sexy ladies who shook their bum bum. Okyeame Kwame and Amanda Jisseh made people who cheat their partners change their ways with faithful.
Wizkid told the audience not to dull, holla at their boy, took them back to the matter and gave them a teaser of what to expect come Brazil 2014 World cup with samba. Samini looked for where his baby was, increased the tempo from slow motion to overspeed and eventually started the time bomb.
The show was graced by Big Shots like Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari, John Boye, Baffour Gyan, Jim Ike, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Mike Ocquaye Jnr, Obour, Julius Agwu, Richie, Efya and Castro.
Okyeame Kwame who is the Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) for the Musicians Union of Ghana (Musiga) when asked by Myjoyonline.com about the impact of the show said the show eradicates the notion that Ghana and Naija are competitors but rather the two countries compliment each other. “Naija is a perfect extension of the Ghanaian market,” he added.
“Comparing the event to the previous edition there has been a tremendous improvement all round performance. After the 2nd Edition we went back to the drawing board and rectified all the lapses to make this edition a huge success,” said Derrick Addai the P.R.O of Empire Entertainment organizers of the show.
