The Use Of Mobile Phones By Teachers During Lessons – ITN Senior Fellow Writes
A senior fellow at the Informed Teachers’ Network writes;
Nobody can prevent teachers from using their cell phones during lessons though It is one of the contemporary issues, topping the table of lesson distractors and time wasters.
It is useful just as it is a bad companion too. Putting all it’s bad characteristics aside, it is sometimes our TLM, we also use it to find TLMs online, we surf the net for content, It is our textbook, our curriculum and learner plan especially in this era where government finds delight in providing our schools with practically no Teaching and learning material.
It it however up to us as teachers to discipline ourselves and find a balance. You can’t say you won’t make calls, you can’t resist the temptation to check what’s happening at the other side of the world but find a balance. Some of the calls can be avoided, some can be postponed, some of the messages can be replied latter – just find a reasonable balance.
When you are addicted like me, it won’t be easy for you but it is not impossible.
