The farther I walk away from the office of the Musicians Union of Ghana, the closer I get to what sounds like chants of prayer ahead. So it has come to pass that I convince myself i should join the fellowship and say a prayer or two. After all it’s been a while I said ‘what’s up Agya Onyankopong’. Before I got to where I am standing now, I went pass a fleet of very ‘cool’ cars. The kind that successful people own. I am in the midst of the chants of ‘DIE!DIE!DIE!DIE!’ If those the curses are directed at don’t cease to exist today, then they will never die. At a certain juncture when it is clear that fatigue has set in, a chorus of ‘in the name of Jesus’ booms from the lead guy. His voice is coarse. Maybe he has been doing this for a long while. He commands the flock with some swag that only experience bestows. Moments ago the giant screen positioned beside the stage to transmit the act for people like me from afar showed a young woman praying fervently. Before you ‘what the fuck where you expecting her to be doing Lucifer’ me, the sight it self wasn’t remarkable. But the fact that the cameraman and his director decided to zoom in on her 3aeconds longer than usual was. This beautiful woman had a ‘full chest’. Every bit of her cleavage was swollen. And she was in the prayer mode. So what the persons whose eyes were not closed, like Yours Truly’s ,and was fixed on the large screen hoping for a miracle saw was the whole breast going up and down in a very fine procession. It was almost sexy. What made the cameraman ‘dwell’ on the woman a second or two more than he should have panned his lenses, I do not know. I am not complaining but now I am ‘tainted’. I want to snake through the crowd and look for the praying Christian sister. She unbeknownst to her looked very fine on screen. As fate will have it, today’s Bible theme was based on ‘what causes demonic dreams’. I know my demonic dream tonight will be caused by this Church cameraman. As if by design the guy stand in front of me too has ‘ herbs. Fruits. Alcohol’ inscribed behind his shirt. Now my mind is set. God’s purpose for me is beyond this congregation. I shall move on elsewhere and seek salvation. Maa Abena Owusua how do you pronounce MOGPA? Seen lots on cars with the pennant hanging on their rare driving mirrors.
