From observations on social media, most Ghanaians seem fed-up with both NPP and NDC. The reason is the “politics of equalization” both parties are engaged in. When one party is criticized, the other reminds the rival of the same or even worse than what they did when they were in power.
Most citizens who are unhappy about the equalization mantra have lambasted both NPP and NDC. For instance, some famous Ghanaians such as Countryman Songo, Kwame A-Plus, Manasseh Azure Awuni, Afia Pokuaa aka Vim Lady, Captain Smart, and others feel that both Akufo-Addo (NPP) and Mahama (NDC) are the same and none of this duo is an angel. But, is there any serious third choice or force to end the NPP/NDC dominance in effect? No!
There are some ways Ghanaians who are tired of both NPP/NDC could react during the December elections. The first common option for such voters will be to abstain from the entire voting system.
The second is to go to the polls to cast “spoilt ballot” or increase “rejected votes”. These two alternatives will be used by more Ghanaians in December than it has ever happened in the electoral history of Ghana.
This means that it may be possible for a 3rd or 4th run-off between Akufo-Addo and Mahama since none may be able to record the 50% plus 1 vote to win one touch during the first. This implies that there will be an extra cost for the electoral processes because of the printing of ballot papers, organizing the elections again and again, etc.
This will be the huge demonstration against NPP/NDC in December 2020 and the signs are clear!
