This Is Why Ghanaian Politicians Don’t Take The Citizens Serious.
All citizens have the rights and privileges to enjoy under every political tenure because it’s the will of the people (which in its effect is the will of God) that can take politicians into power.
With this conditioned reasoning, it is rather the responsibility of politicians to serve the voters (citizens) and not the other way. In this country, most politicians make it seem as if they are gods with super powers.
Well, there are many reasons why these politicians do not take the citizens serious.
* When most citizens line up on daily basis to beg politicians for favours. (Some people in my village queue to take breakfast from MPs when they visit during recess). Does it mean they starve in the MP’s absence? No!
** When citizens decide to vote for politicians who give them the biggest cash. (Why should the person think of serving you after he or she has won?)
*** When citizens become disorganized and fight themselves because of their NPP and NDC tag instead of uniting to demand for accountability from all politicians.
**** When citizens hail or hype politicians as if they are angels or smaller gods.
These are some of the reasons why most Ghanaian politicians take citizens for granted! The earlier we change, the better…
