PRESIDENT OF UGANDA SUED FOR BLOCKING SOMEONE ON TWITTER
The young man who told Pres. Akufu- Addo last year at the Harvard University that, he wished they exchange him (Nana Addo) with their president, HE. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda has sued his president and other top government officials for blocking him on Twitter.
Making his case Mr. Innocent Hillary Seguya Taylor argued that, the president of his country disseminates information about his job as a head of state of the Republic of Uganda through his social media handles, and he as a citizen has the right to those information.
He further stated that ‘‘this infringes on my constitutional rights guaranteed in Articles 21, 29, 38, 41 §1, 42, 43 §2 and with principles of natural justice”.
One of the other officials has since unblocked in which Mr.Seguya believes emanated from fears of the court case.
“Finally Asan Kasingye the Assistant Inspector General of Uganda Police (AIGP) and head of Uganda Police Force Director of Political Commissariat has unblocked after suing him for illegally blocking me on twitter. But the case still stands” he wrote.
Now blocking people has become the best remedy for preventing dissenting views. But Seguya thinks otherwise.
