University strikes forced me into acting- Actress

imagesNollywood actress, Ufuoma Ejenobor, has disclosed that she never had passion for Nollywood in the past, revealing that she was more engrossed with watching foreign films.

According to the actress, after winning the Miss Congeniality at the Miss Commonwealth Beauty Pageant, and having represented Nigeria at the Miss Earth 2004 International beauty pageant in the Philippines, she met the renowned filmmaker, Zeb Ejiro, who persuaded her into acting.

Ufuoma disclosed that the incessant university strikes, while she was still a student of UNILAG, that forced her into acting. The actress stated that it was one of the strikes she put a call through to Zeb, who asked how she was surviving in her Hollywood career.

“That was in 2002. 2003, I was in 3rd year and a French major student, I spent the year at the French Village in Badagry, Lagos. By 2004, I had finished my 3rd year but was unable to start my 4th year as there had been a strike in UNILAG and other 300 level students were yet to finish their 3rd university year.

“I was already modelling at the time, but the jobs were trickling in. I needed to be fully engaged. I remembered Zeb. I dug out his card and embarrassingly called. He picked,” she said.

Ufuoma told TNS that it was after her phone call to Zeb Ejiro, that her was turned around when she was called up for auditions and eventually got her first Nollywood role
