Veep Commissions 100-Bed Infectious Disease Centre In Ga East Municipal Hospital

On behalf of President Akufo-Addo, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, has joined other stakeholders to commission Ghana’s first-ever built to complement the at the .

Per Government’s commitment to build at least 3 infectious disease centers as well as a Ghana Centre for Disease Control, the health facility was birthed by the Fund with contributions from both private and public sector organisations. The 100 bed facility was constructed in just under 100 days!

The Veep commended the Ghanaian ingenuity, patriotism and dedication to humanity by a team of men and women, 536 strong, working 24 hours to make the impossible a reality.


“My thanks to the Ministry of Health, 48 Engineers Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces, the Built Environment Professionals and the Ghana COVID-19 Private sector fund as well as the donors for making this possible. Three more of these facilities are scheduled to be constructed in Kumasi, Tamale and Takoradi. This shows that we can do it if we come together and put our minds to it”, the Vice President concluded
