The global telecoms giant hopes to introduce a new face to reality TV in Ghana with auditions set to begin across the country to screen and select 24 contestants who will vie for the coveted prize package.
The auditions, scheduled to take place in four cities – namely Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi and Tamale – from 12th to 17th January, 2011, is intended to create a platform to unearth amateur Ghanaian young ladies to adequately represent the Ghanaian music genre on the international stage.
To register for auditions, females aged 18-30 must simply text their names, age and preferred city to Vodafone short code 1737. The contestants will then receive a text message confirming the registration which must be saved and shown at the audition venue.
The Head of Corporate Communications at Vodafone Ghana, Carmen Bruce-Annan said “Vodafone Ghana is passionate about music like most Ghanaians. We will empower these ladies to make their dream a reality through ICONS.”
She urged females who can prove their mettle behind the mic and showcase their style, talent, determination and drive to seize this golden opportunity with ICONS.
The grand prize at stake in the ‘ICONS: – Divas Edition’ reality show includes a major recording deal, cash package yet to be disclosed and an exclusive performance at ‘020 live’, Vodafone Ghana’s annual musical fiesta.
