Award winning group Keche, which is made of Joshua Ampah and Andrew Cudjoe recently disclosed in an interview that the worst they have ever received in their career after a performance was GH¢40.00 paid by Adom FM in 2008. We think the world was suffering from a ‘Global Economic Meltdown’ then? Hey! What do we know? They had to be paid.
The Group made the disclosure to Kwame B on Di Wu Lane Mu on Kasapa 103.3FM. According to them, they were promised to be paid fully after receiving part payment of GH¢40.00 for the Adom TemaFest event. However, the more they tried to get their money, the more interesting the hide and seek game became.
They went on to talk of how they would have given up on music (Wow! it was supposed to be for the passion, right?) but with the encouragement from friends and other music promoters (who were probably looking out for their pocket), they kept on doing their thing and it has resulted in the fame they enjoy today.
“We nearly gave up on our dream since financially we had no one supporting but what God has done is great, we never believed that in 2015 we will still be part of the top musicians in Ghana.”
They recalled how difficult things where for them in 2008. What a difficult year for us all.
“We once walked from Tema to Jay Q’s Hush Hush Studio in Accra to record our songs which was never a hit in order to be able to pay for the studio fees.”
The group has gone on to become one of Ghana’s most adorable groups of today as they keep churning out hit songs year after year and wouldn’t budge at a GH¢200.00 GH per night hotel now. Let’s hope they won’t.
