In order to improve the economic fortunes and standard of living of citizens, the nation has the responsibility of providing adequate infrastructures such as hospitals, schools, transportation systems, communication networks, sewage, water, electric systems, and so forth.

In Ghana, there has been a much-touted infrastructure argument between New Patriotic Party’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and National Democratic Congress’ John Dramani Mahama as to who has done most for the Ghanaian populace.
