Who Organises The Next Drive InTheatre In Ghana?

imagesI wondered how then next organization of that event will be since the first one wasn’t successful. The first ever organized drive in theatre was by Pluzz fm earlier this year. The set up wasn’t so good and the response was very bad. Most people who were present just ignored it. On the day of the event most people I interviewed were either not interested or had no idea about it. Most of them were there on a regular Friday to have fun at the beach resort. The initial location was the Trade fair Centre and later changed to Tawala Beach in Labadi.

The view wasn’t very good because the space in front of the projected movie was bumpy not allowing a good view. The cars were also not arranged in any particular order so it didn’t help in viewing the movie. When I got there that day the cars were empty cos the car owners weren’t there for the drive in theater. The idea was great but execution was not on point. Time was also not of essence to organizers because they started very late which wasn’t good for showing two movies. The movie choices were not bad but in all it wasn’t patronized. The date for the event was also a contributing factor, Valentine ’s Day because there were so many events in town that day and took the shine out of it. Kudos to organizers for such brilliant idea but a better job must be done in the next edition

A drive-in theater is a form of cinema structure consisting of a large outdoor movie screen, a projection booth, a concession stand and a large parking area for automobiles. Within this enclosed area, customers can view movies from the privacy and comfort of their cars.
The screen can be as simple as a wall that is painted white, or it can be a steel truss structure with a complex finish. Originally, a movie’s sound was provided by speakers on the screen and later by an individual speaker hung from the window of each car, which would be attached by a wire. This system was superseded by the more economical and less damage-prone method of broadcasting the soundtrack at a low output power on AM or FM radio to be picked up by a car radio. This method also allows the soundtrack to be picked up in stereo by the audience on an often high fidelity stereo installed in the car instead of through a simple speaker.
