Why I Work With Few Artiste- Jam Master Jay (JMJ)

One of Ghana’s most respected and fastest growing music producers Jam Master J popularly known as J.M.J has thrown more light on why he does not work with so many artistes but a few.

In an exclusive radio interview with NY DJ on Homestretch on Kapital Radio, the brand J.M.J who has so far been behind the success behind big acts such as Samini, Obrafour, Kaaki and Stonebuoy was however quick to add that he has so far worked with so many artistes but there came a time he felt there was more to himself than just recording artistes.

He said “When I was coming up, I worked with virtually everybody…… the problem was that there were a lot of times I didn’t like the kind of music and kind of musicians that we had and the only way I could bring a change was to start my own record label and ask my artistes to do what I believe in because I can’t tell Okyeame Kwame to stop something in his song, I could only recommend and that rested on him to accept or not and that idea brought about Kaaki”.

He however indicated that his concentration is currently on his camp and his artistes rather than money. “More jobs mean more stress and if I don’t do a good job, my name will dwindle. If I produce only three (3) artistes in the whole year and they are massive hits, I take pride in that than to produce ten (10) or twenty (20) and I have only one hit and the rest are chaff” he added.

JMJ has also added his voice to deny the fact that Kaaki would ever do an explicit song and would not even allow her to go wayward. Kaaki is due to release two brand new singles in the next two months.
