Wizkid and Burna Boy’s New Albums Make GQ’s List Of Best Album For 2020

‘Twice As Tall’ album by Burna Boy and ‘Made In Lagos’ by Wizkid, have been listed by British GQ Magazine as part of the  best 24 albums that made the year 2020 more tolerable.

The Nigerian singers are the only Africans recognized on the list for their creative work of art and they took the 16th and 17th spots.

GQ describe ‘Twice as Tall’ as an album that absolutely lives up to its name. The magazine noted that they wondered if his album ‘Twice as Tall’ would live up to his fourth album ‘African Giant’, but they were surprised when it was released and it earned him another Grammy nomination.

GQ said;

“Burna Boy’s global sound somehow got even more universally enjoyable, slickly blending Afrobeat and dancehall rhythms, R&B sensibilities, hip-hop flows, and reggae’s passion into a singular sound. And while African Giant was a triumphant celebration, Twice As Tall served as Burna Boy’s manifesto…”

Meanwhile, Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ was described as his best yet, stating;

“… combining his global vision with a focus on Yoruba, Afro-Latin, and Afrobeats percussion that, as the name Made In Lagos asserts, makes the record feel like a real homecoming.

The entire 14-track record makes for warm, easy listening, offering some blessed release from the relentless misery of this year and conjuring up dreams of rum-soaked beach parties.”
