World Cup Affects Accra International Film Festival

The 2014 FIFA World Cup currently going on in Brazil has taken the shine off a lot of events happening concurrently, and that has prompted Katamadara Concepts, organisers of the Accra International Film Festival (AIFF), to push this year’s event to early November.

Last year’s festival was held from June 25 to June 30 and was climaxed with a dinner and awards night at the State House in Accra.

Well-known American film actor, producer and director, Bill Duke was the special guest at the festival.

Osmo Kwame Addo, CEO of Katamadara Concepts and Executive Director of the festival, told Daily Graphic that AIFF 2014 would be formally launched soon after the World Cup ends in Brazil.

Meanwhile, the AIFF has appointed actor and film producer, Edward Agyekum Kuffuor as the festival’s brand ambassador.

His key role as the face of the festival, Osmo Kwame Addo says, is to help raise sponsorship, spread awareness of the festival abroad and liaise with key personalities here and elsewhere on issues affecting the festival

“We started the festival on a high note and we don’t want to lose steam. That is why we are working with Edward Kuffour to tap his knowledge of the international arts and business scenes to ensure that AIFF carries on as a major festival on the continent,” the AIFF Executive Director said.
