EC finally announces number of seats won by the NPP and NDC in Parliament
The Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission of Ghana has waded into the deliberations of who carries the majority in Parliament between the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In the just-ended polls, both the NPP and the NDC are claiming to have won what constitutes the majority in Parliament.
Recall that the Electoral Commission on Wednesday, December 9, announced the winner of the 2020 Presidential results with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo leading with 6,730,413 which represents 51.49%, and former president John Dramani Mahama of the NDC gaining 6,214,889 being 47.366%.
The NDC has, however, rejected the Presidential election results from the Commission which according to them is not credible as the figures keep on changing each day.
With regards to the Parliamentary seats, according to the EC, the NPP is having 137 seats as against 136 seats for the NDC with an outstanding seat and another independent candidate’s seat (Fomena seat)
