Asamoah Gyan gives money to rescuers to help find Castro, Janet

imagesBlack Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan is said to have given money to some rescuers in Ada to help find hiplife artiste, Castro and his female companion Janet Bandu.

Rescue operations started Sunday for Castro, known in private life as Theophilus Tagoe, and Janet who went missing while jet skiing in Ada.

Castro and Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan were at the Peace Holiday Resort, a beach resort in Ada, together with some friends, for recreation.

The Marine division of the Ghana Police intensified search operations Monday but as at Tuesday hopes of finding Castro and Janet alive are dwindling.

An unidentified body that was discovered at a nearby village, Monday turned out to be that of an elderly man.

Robert Mensah, who said he was with Castro at the resort before he went missing, told in an interview that a devastated Asamoah Gyan handed money out to rescuers to help find his friend.

Castro and Asamoah Gyan have over the years collaborated on some of Ghana’s biggest hit songs notably ‘African Girls’, ‘Do The Dance’, and the 2014 Ghana Music Awards ‘Highlife the Song of the Year’ winner ‘Odo Pa’.

Robert Mensah disclosed that Asamaoh Gyan, popularly known as Baby Jet, gave out the monies in the heat of “people wanting to buy fuel, people needing to [move] their boats,” to search for Castro and Janet.

He said Asamoah Gyan doled out the monies without taking into cognizance how much he was giving out or how many people he gave the money to.

According to him, the Black Stars captain repeated the gesture on Monday as efforts to find Castro and Janet intensified.

The Marine police has begun day three of the search. They have called for support from the general public to help them find Castro and Janet, an upcoming actress who took part in Multi-TV’s reality show ‘I’m In Love with Bomaye’ in 2012.
