Buk Bak Tells Their Story

The group took to social network site, twitter to give a detailed lecture on how their story began.

The group largely tweeted on features and happenings of the early stages of their career, schooling, their first ever stage performance as a trio (then including Shoetan) at FUNWORLD, and their first record label signing among other interesting revelations.

“Buk Bak started with the name Black Tribe b4 we changed because people did not want to deal with any black tribe,” they tweeted.

“We started our performances from FUNWORLD @ the national Theatre.

We met Aunty Korkor who saw how hungry we were to entertain so gave us a chance to audition.

“In ATTC we were just dream chasers and that led us to the National Theatre. Shoetan was a great street rap gee… He was great when we had street rap battles.

Bling Sparkles was very good on drums and percussion at church. I (Ronnie) first try at music recording was Dancehall music. I (Ronnie) was offering Auto Mechanics…

“The record label that took us and BUK BAK signed onto first was ABIB Records.

ABIB Records gave us good money, good apartment and cars to ride us around. We were young and living it. 1998.

“‘Komi Ke Kena’ became so big as a single it had to be our album title. And we made lots of Money and had MAD fun.

In 2000 we released ‘Awensem’ as an album with ABIB RECORDS. And we were roaming under the watchful eye of our PR Muhammed Khan.

“Nkomhy3 was our third album and it was great. ABIB RECORDS released that album in 2001. Buk Bak was on fire and Ghana was OK with that.

“After ‘Nkomhye’ we left ABIB Records. We went into a meeting with Agiecoat Records and ‘SikaK)k))’ album was born.

“‘Sikak)k))’ was released in 2002 with Agiecoat Records and Ghana gave us awards for our gold performance.”

Ghana Music Awards 2003 Ghana gave BukBak four awards.
