D-Black & Van Vicker To Produce Real ‘VERA’ Movie

D-Black’s hit song ‘VERA’ is arguably the biggest song in the country at date and has been topping radio and t.v charts for a couple months.

The story of D-Black’s heartbreak which spawned into a nationwide hit was written by D-Black and released earlier this year in April. Being a film school graduate, D-Black also scripted the entire music video and hired the professional services of talented music video director ‘Pascal Aka’ to execute the production of the music video which turned out to be an even bigger hit with the masses breaking youtube records along the way when it was released two months ago.

Plans have been laid down to release a ‘VERA’ movie starring all the original cast produced by D-Black’s Black Avenue T.V and Van Vicker’s movie production firm.

A few weeks ago, Kumasi based directors jumped on the success of D-Black’s song and begun production of an ‘OH VERA’ movie, infringing the copyright of the Ghanaian musician. Using the concept of the song and music video as well as D-Black’s lyrics, a poster was released online all without the consent of D-Black’s label and management, Black Avenue Muzik or the artist himself.

For the information of the Ghanaian public, the fake movie ‘OH VERA’ will not feature D-Black, Vera, Funny Face, Benny Blanco or any of the original cast. It is a fraud and legal action is being taken against the producers ‘Unique Pictures, 2Eyes Films’ Samuel Ofori and Prince Badu Ntiamoah’ lamented business manager at Black Avenue Muzik, Albert Nartey.

This is a disgrace to our film industry and shows lack of creativity and disregard for our copyright laws. Out of respect, we reached out to the producers of the ‘fake movie’ which yielded no results.

Infringing on the copyright of hardworking Ghanaian musicians had become a norm and is a crime in our country. MUSIGA ,MUSIGA President ‘Bice Osei Kuffour’, COSGA and all the bodies governing our music industry will ensure that these crooks are brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others.

The original ‘VERA’ movie will be premiered in March 2013 at the Silverbird cinemas in Accra, Ghana and will star D-Black, VERA herself, Benny Blanco, Van Vicker, Joey B, Funny Face and a star studded cast of Ghanaian & Nigerian musicians, actors and entertainers.

‘VERA the True Story’ will hit screens in March 2013.
