Did Kwabena Kwabena Heart Foundation handover GHC18,000 or GHC180,000 to Korle Bu?

photosIt has been established that the Kwabena Kwabena Heart Foundation donated GHC18,000 to the  Korle-bu Cardiothoracic Center last year and not the GHC180,000 his manager, Nana Opoku, alias Ashes claims has been paid to the center  to support some heart patients.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall hosted by Mike ‘2’ on Saturday May 23, 2015,  Ashes stated categorically that the artist’s (Kwabena Kwabena) foundation was able to raise GHC180,000 (1.8billion old cedis) last year to support five heart patients to undergo surgery at the cardio centre.

But investigations conducted by Adom Entertainment Hall, has revealed that they were only able to present a cheque of GHC18,000 (180 million old cedis) to the center on  December 11, 2014.

Adom Entertainment Hall has been finding out how the various charity foundations established by Ghanaian celebrities are faring, and if they indeed present the amounts they promise to hand over when they hold fundraising programmes.

In the course of a panel discussion, Nana Opoku aka Ashes announced that the Kwabena Kwabena Heart Foundation had handed over GHC180,000 to the Cardiothoracic Centre to support five patients of the six targeted recipients.

This claim was fiercely challenged by another panelist, entertainment critic Prince Tsegah, who dared him to provide proof of this donation.

This generated a heated discussion until calm was restored.

In his (Nana Opoku) second attempt to respond to the facts gathered by the Adom Entertainment Hall on the show last Saturday, he insisted he only said the GHC180,00 was a target and not the actual amount handed over, but when host Mike 2 played his voice back to him no such claim was found.

When contacted, the Head of the Korle bu Cardiothoracic Center, Dr Lawrence Sereboe said, the Kwabena Kwabena Heart Foundation presented a cheque of GHC 18,000 to the hospital’s Accounts Office on December 11, 2014.

This amount was added to some other money raised elsewhere to help two patients undergo surgery, Dr. Sereboe added.

In a related development, Dr Lawrence Sereboe has appealed to those who have made promises and pledges to the Cardiothoracic Centre to fulfill them to enable it save more lives.
