Except Adam and Eve, the early dwellers, gatherers, cave men and other first habitats of the Earth, all those who have followed have tried to continue things started by predecessors or to “copy” stuff that is already in existence. As academicians, we continue to benefit from the immense intellectual property of Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, William Shakespeare, etc. But, with ours, the rule of the game requires that we duly cite these authorities anytime we fall on their works. Is that so in every sector? It baffles most of us to see songs sampled from others by new artistes such as Mr. Drew, Kuami Eugene, Joey B and others for an instant hit without any proper consultation with the originators. I love Fameye a lot, however, one thing I have seen about him is how he imitates the legendary Okomfo Kwadee in terms of his lyrical content, rap style and other attributes. I saw it to be cool since we all have mentors we aspire to impress but the last straw to break the camel’s back is how Fameye has started copying Samuel Adu Frimpong aka Medikal or MDK of Arab Money Gang (AMG) Business Fame. After Fameye appeared on Empress Nana Ama McBrown’s United Showbiz show with a black mask on like MDK has branded himself now, I got pissed! The question that dominated my mind was whether this Fameye dude has no “invention” or “creativity” in his dictionary!
