Global Cinemas opens at Weija

Global Cinemas, a brand new cinema and entertainment complex, which is aimed at bringing diversity to the Ghanaian cinema industry was launched at last Friday at Weija in Accra with the premiere of blockbuster movie, Hitman.

At the launch, the Chairman of Global Cimenas, Edward Boateng, said the new cinema complex would change the entertainment landscape of the country and provide a viable and affordable alternative out-of-home entertainment experience.

He added that among others, the facility would offer movies in both 3D and 2D viewing experience with Dolby Digital Surround Sound as well as plush seating and a variety of concessions.

He urged  movie producers and directors to submit their movies and other entertainment productions for screening at the venue. “Global Cinemas is ready to partner quality Ghanaian productions. I invite members of the movie fraternity, producers and actors to join us do our part to uplift the industry.

“Also, as industry players, we will work with cultural organisations and interested parties to hold film festivals and theme screenings to ensure  moviegoers of a constant variety of top-quality products. In addition to our affordable ticket prices, we will also have ongoing promotions,” he added.

On the unique entertainment  Global Cinemas is presenting to Ghanaians, Eric Adae, Head of Communications of CDH Financial Services, partners of Global Cinemas, said, “ the facility features an entertainment complex which includes a state of the art cinema complex with three halls, Starbites Restaurant, Aura Sports Bar and Lounge, an events ground and soon-to-be-launched kids playground and video gaming arena.

“The complex is positioned to serve the needs of families, corporations and indivduals looking for an affordable entertainment alternative,” he said.

In a speech read on her behalf, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, said the government is committed to creating an enabling environment for the arts and creative industry and is happy to support the private sector in this effort.

She commended Global Cinemas for their initiative and urged them to operate within a peaceful and conducive atmosphere.
