Miss Ghana Queen Storms Parliament Today!

964075258_809852The reigning Miss Ghana Naa Okailey Shooter, and some former beauty queens last weekend graced the vetting session of the deputy minister designate for Children, Gender and Social Protection, Benita Sena Okiti-Dua.

Okiti-Dua, a former beauty queen and winner of the 1997 edition, received a massive endorsement from the queens, a seal of approval of her meritorious rise to the top of Ghana’s internal polity.

Manuela Medie, Miss Ghana 1995 and Efia Owusuwaa Marfo, Miss Ghana 1998 and Shooter sat through the entire session, attracting a lot of attention from members of the august committee.

They were duly acknowledged, and accorded the needed courtesies. Excited to see the past queens in attendance, Okiti-Dua gave it her all, craftily and intelligently answering the questions that were thrown at her.

A hardworking individual with a lot of passion for women and children, Okiti-Dua became Miss Ghana in 1997, beating some 19 other contestants to the title.

She took to fashion and design after her reign, and has since built up an incredible clientele over the years.

Last year, she became the first ever beauty queen to enter Ghana’s Parliament, beating some six other contestants including the incumbent Nii Nortey Dua to win the Ledzokuku Constituency seat in the Greater Accra Region for the ruling NDC.

She is a former student of the Achimota School, and London College of Fashion. Okiti-Dua is 35 and happily married.
