N/ R: Pito sales decline in Ramadan season

imagesDealers in locally brewed beer, Pito and food sellers in Northern region are complaining of a drastic reduction in sales because of the ongoing Muslim fasting to mark the month of Ramadan.

According to the sellers, during Ramadan most of the Muslims prefer to cook in the house since they eat only at dawn.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islam calendar and the month in which the Quran was revealed.

Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslim’s fast during the daylight hours from dawn to sunset.

Meanwhile some Pito and food sellers have gone beyond the Ramadan to attribute the poor sales to galamsey which is popularly known in the area as “Dollar Power” which has driven most of their male customers out of town in search of gold.
