Only Severe Punishments For Drivers Can Eradicate Carelessness On Our Roads.

It’s too early in 2020 for Ghanaians to start burying their relatives as a result of the negligence of duties by some unscrupulous folks who parade themselves as ‘experienced drivers’.

Let’s set the record straight – some drivers are really professionals but other bad nuts are discrediting their competencies.

35 vibrant and workable citizens lost because of senseless overtaking by a driver ? Is it not too early for this?

Aside the illegalities that most drivers engage in to acquire their driver’s license overnight (revealing how unprepared they’re behind the wheels), some of them also drive under the influence of highly intoxicating alcoholic beverages and hard drugs.

As passengers, we see these unprofessional attributes of some drivers but ignore it.

To salvage the situation of rampant road accident and the severe casualties associated with it, we need to accept harsh penalties for unprofessional drivers.

Ghanaians are known to be afraid of stiff laws and that is the only remedy to road accident.

Going forward, instituting hefty fines and/or long term imprisonments for accident drivers found to have acted carelessly or neglected their duties at post should be the surest way to minimise the nonsensical over speeding, unprofessional drink driving and so forth.

How many drivers will drive carelessly after using his life savings to pay for a hefty penalty unit or by spending some years behind bars ?
