Proposed 100% toll increment at Madina fiercely contested…
There is tension brewing at the Madina main lorry station over increment of toll levy.
Authorities are asking drivers to pay Gh¢10.00 before they can load and operate in the area as part of a newly proposed agenda.
The drivers on the other hand are complaining bitterly because they were initially paying Gh¢5.00 for the same services. Some furious drivers have vowed to die of hunger instead of working at such a place for them to be faced with this extortion.
Others also questioned why they should pay more whilst they cannot pinpoint any developmental projects at the station upon all the toll levies they have paid already.
Management has already signed a legal document to this effect whilst drivers have also vowed to resist this new development.
According to the letter sighted by this website, management plans to construct the roads and ensure that other improved infrastructures are put in place.
