Raising One’s Self-Esteem In Modest Fashion

Self-esteem can be said to be the very opinion, notion, or perception an individual has of him or herself.

When we have healthy self-esteem, we tend to feel positive about ourselves and about life in general. It makes us better able to deal with life’s ups and downs.

Frankly speaking, when we possess low self-esteem, we tend to see ourselves and our life in a more negative way than any positive way. Some even go deeper as to feel less of a human because of their low self-esteem. Well, in order to overcome low self-esteem, the following could be a guide;

I. One with low self-esteem must give himself a new challenge.
Ideally, setting an achievable goal, such as joining a gym class, yoga exercise club or regularly going to a social occasion with loved ones can be a starter. Achieving these set goals will help increase one’s self-esteem.

II. Building the culture of assertiveness can also help solve this.
Being assertive is about respecting other individual’s perceptions, beliefs, opinions, and needs, and expecting same from them.

Emulating people who act assertively is one way of making this work.

III. Building positive relationships with caring people also works.

Building relationships with people who are positive-minded and appreciate others help one build his self-esteem.

IV. Finding more tasks to embark on. When one recognizes that he or she is good at stuff like cooking, singing, solving puzzles, or being a friend; frequently embarking on them tend to raise their low self-esteem.

V. Speaking positive vibes into one’s life is also a way of helping those with low self-esteem. From the religious point of view, just like what Christians believe, when one speaks positive words into his or her life, such virtues follow them. This is a very religious and practical way of helping one with low self-esteem to better his confidence level.
