Rap Dactor endorses digital Migration in Ghana

For the first time in the history of the music industry, a musician has chosen the new age of digital migration by way of selling music on the global international market instead of the widely used traditional medium of distributing and launching album in Ghana.

Okyeame Kwame, a.k.a Rap Dactor, one of Ghanaian finest musician has taken a bold step to go into the new age of buying music tracks and albums’ on the internet, rather than walking in to a shop.

According to him, this new medium is the fastest growing platform in the music industry globally, which is currently the top means for selling music.

As one of the leading ambassadors of leading mobile telecommunication, MTN, Okyeame Kwame’s new album would be on the platform hosted by Spice.

Speaking at a press launching at the African Reagent Hotel, Okyeame Kwame reiterated that he is taking this bold step to reinforce the need for music lovers to explore the opportunities of the new age of purchasing music products on the internet.

He cited that with 10 million subscriber base of MTN on the platform, he is positive his new album would sell in making an impact in the music industry in the country.

‘This is the migration of music distribution and purchase of music over the years, which involves music of the fine arts, cassettes and CD, and now to this trendy digital platform. This trend keeps changing every day and now the world has gone digital. This means that, traditional triangle of music distribution is fast losing its control on the markets’, Okyeame Kwame added.

The Country Manager of Spice Africa, Mr. Sunil M. Kumar observed that Spice Africa is a company seeking to introduce digital migration of music works in the sub-Sahara African continent selling music on the internet with maximum profit margin.

He said the Ghanaian music industry has the potential for the digital migration making huge impact in Africa.

Mr. Kumar cited that there are several Ghanaian musicians marketing their music works on the platform, whiles encouraging other to follow the same suite to market their works on the plat from through Spice Africa.
