Rev kusi Berko laid to rest

imagesThe mortal remains of ace gospel musician, Rev. Kusi Berko, (alias Kusi Brempong) was laid to rest at his hometown, Asisriwa in the Bosomtwe District of Ashanti Region last Saturday.

He was buried in a coffin designed in the form of an accordion, the instrument which identified him with his songs in the entire nation.

The 56-year-old musician died on August 1, 2014, at the St. Michael Hospital at Pramso, and according to a family source he died of pneumonia and diabetics after battling stroke for over six years. He left behind four children.

Before his interment at Asiriwa, the singer of Edin ben Ni, Mrane and Ofata/Nyame Aguama was laid in state at the forecourt of the Kumasi Centre for National Culture in the early hours of Saturday where many music lovers, musicians from across the country and the clergy as well as family relations bade him farewell.

Among the musicians who were present at the ceremony were the Tagoe Sisters, Willie and Mike, Rev. Agyemang Badu (YABS), Rev. Edward Kusi Berko, Rev. Dr Thomas Yawson, Mary Ghansah, Rev. Mensah Bonsu and Mama Esther among others.

Other dignitaries who attended the funeral ceremony were the District Chief Executive for Bososmtwe, Madam Veronica Antwi-Adjei, Rev. Kwame Kwarteng, Rev. Twum Barima and many others.

Talking to Showbiz during the funeral ceremony, Apostle Sampson Agyei Kwarteng, founder of True Foundation Ministry who was the chairman of the funeral planning committee commended the various musicians and clergy for their support towards the burial of the Rev. Kusi Berko.

He also commended the late Kusi Berko for dedicating his entire life towards evangelisation through song ministration and prayed for God to welcome him to his bosom.
