Steve Bedi, Scratch Studios Honoured

Syncos music star Steve Bedi on Monday won the 2012 Best Instrumentalist Of The Year award at the Industrial Awards Night held at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Steve Bedi, who has an album to his credit, is a product of Scratch Studios, a music label based at East Legon in Accra.

Syncos music is a music genre that originated from Ghana and was initiated by Scratch Studios .

Many of the stakeholders who were grateful to the organisers for honouring Steve Bedi, noted that the award was in recognition of syncos music in Ghana.

Scratch Studios, which has four syncos albums so far, is working tirelessly to promote syncos music on the international music market.

According to Scratch Studios management, syncos music is the synchronization of the ‘ soul’ in African traditional rhythms with the ‘soul’ in other musical spectrum to form one beautiful world melody, adding that syncos music  focuses on music with its cultural authenticity from Ghana, embracing change and bringing attention to a community grossly unrepresented and also offering something unique yet broad to the different media outlets into mainstream contemporary music.

A number of musicians have embraced syncos music and are yet to feature one or two syncos tracks.

Scratch Studios has also pledged its support to the Ghana music industry by setting up a subsidiary department for the popular hip-life genre of music which is widely accepted in the country.

The CEO of Scratch Studios, Kofi Amoakuhene, told BEATWAVES that there would be reductions in the rates of studio time, use of instruments and professional voice training for Ghanaian musicians.

The studio also offered to work with up and coming artistes to produce their demos, thereby giving them the professional touch, outlook and also the opportunity to put their music out, thereby showcasing their talents.

Amoakuhene also stated that the syncos music was synonymous with Scratch as soul music was to Motown records, as such talented artistes would also be required to feature on the syncos compilation, therefore giving an international platform to the artistes.
