Talented Nigerian footballer in Italy tests (+) to Coronavirus

King Paul Akpan Udoh, an Italian-Nigerian player who plays for Pianese in Serie C, has become the first confirmed footballer to contract Coronavirus.

He was diagnosed with the disease on February 27 and has been quarantined per the sane health provisions and requirements of WHO.

Originally, the 22-year-old started his career with Reggiana before moving to Juventus in 2011 where he was loaned back for a year.

The deadly Coronavirus has spread from China to countries in Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and Africa, precisely Algeria and Nigeria.

Italy is the European nation with the highest number of reported cases. Some “Italian Serie A” matches were postponed last weekend as a preliminary preventive measure against the spread of the deadly virus.

On Friday, the Lagos state government and the federal ministry of health confirmed the first case of Coronavirus in Nigeria from an Italian who arrived in the country on February 25.

The World Health Organization has cautioned all nations to put in place requisite preparations towards the suppression of the epidemic.
