TUTAG declare indefinite strike effective January…

In order to have a fruitful educational endeavour in every sane societal setting, the mediators in education should be sorted in a perfect manner. Teachers serve as these mediators between their learners and parents, guardians, government, etc.

Without the teacher, learning becomes arguably impossible, especially at the first and second cycles of education.

In Ghana, many people continue to lament about the poor working conditions for teachers who deserve better !

Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG), who were formerly known as Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG), have declared an indefinite strike as a result of government’s refusal to migrate members to full statutory Public University status in terms of pay grade after their elevation from Polytechnic Institutions to Technical Universities.

The National President for TUTAG, Dr. Solomon Kilson, made this known in a phone in session with a popular news agency in the country.

The President further explained that after the National Labour Commission (NLC) had intervened in their maiden intended strike, the government has failed woefully in their bid to perform what they agreed to do in a private between with them.

He reiterated that the strike action will affect setting of End of Semester exams, invigilation, marking of scripts and other usual duties of theirs.
