What Will Authorities Do About Celebs Endorsing Politicians? – Papaga Bless Writes

The current trend in Ghana’s political and musical circles been intertwined has caught the attention of every Tom, Dick, and Harry.

The recent scenario is Samini and Sarkodie endorsing Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and how Kuami Eugene is trying to disassociate himself from the track “HappyDay” he did with Sarkodie.

Reacting to this, a social commentator has taken a swipe at the authorities for banning celebs from advertising for Gaming or Betting entities and alcoholic beverages whilst they have not said anything about that of politics.

He wrote;

***The FDA which is a government organization has placed a ban on celebrities from endorsing alcoholic beverages because according to them, these celebs would influence our younger ones to abuse alcohol.

Fast-forward, the Gaming Commission of Ghana ( which is also a Government agency) has placed a ban on celebrities from endorsing sports betting companies because according to them, these celebs would influence the youth to become ‘gambling addicts’.

[Please keep in mind that people allowed to consume the afore-mentioned things must be 18years+.]

Remember also that the main aim of banning these celebs is so that they won’t influence the youth to do what they do not want to do.

Ironically, celebrities are been allowed to endorse political parties and it’s an open secret that they’re heavily tipped before they endorse these parties to influence the youth (18years+) to vote for their parties.

So isn’t this also a way of influencing the youth to do what they do not wish to do?

Yet, they don’t ban celebrities from doing this too. Because as we all know, these celebs can influence the youth to vote for whom they do not wish to vote for.

Yet, there’s nothing in place to ban celebs from doing so. I no dey bab😆
