AKON AND FAT JOE SPEAK ON MAKING CROSSOVER MUSIC.

The friendship between Joseph Antonio Cartagena, better known by his stage name Fat Joe, as an American rapper/ actor and the Senegalese-American Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam aka Akon, has once again being exhibited via video chat on their social media handles.

Akon and Fat Joe had lots of fun speaking to each other via zoom. Amongst other stuff, they discussed varied musical topics and pinpointed some talented African performers who have successfully affirmed themselves in crossovers. One key phrase that was kept on repetition in the conversation was crossover music and its impact on music lovers.

Music geniuses know crossover as a term applied to musical works or performers who appeal to different types of audience. For instance by appearing on two or more of the record charts which track differing musical styles or genres.

Akon and Fat Joe worked on “One” track project some years back which became an instant hit. The two music gems have held up the global musical frontier for a while now and music lovers are forever grateful to them.
