Kwesi Ernest, manager of gospel musician, SP Kofi Sarpong, has stated that it is immature for anyone to criticise his artiste for performing Kofi Kinaata’s ‘Susuka’.

He was reacting to reports that a gospel musician, Naa Mercy, over the weekend indicated that it was unholy for SP Kofi Sarpong to sing the song at Francis Amo’s Garment of Worship.

Naa Mercy is reported to have said so after she took her turn to minister unto the gathering.

But Kwesi Ernest in an interview with Sammy Flex on AM Pluzz said there is nothing wrong for his artiste to sing an inspirational song.

He urged upcoming acts to be circumspect in their statements since they may need musicians in the mainstream days to come

“I beg of the upcoming acts to take it easy. In the aspect of their spirituality, there is no need for such comments. If someone performs and you think it’s not holy, present what is holy when it gets to your turn. Let all musicians see themselves as individual brands so that if any opportunity presents itself one day, we can represent this country instead of judging who is holy and righteous,” he said.

“Do you know how many people were inspired by that song? That song is unique. For you to say that a platform was for worshipping God and not to sing that song is a little much of immaturity. I beg them, they should cease fire. A day will come you will need this same artiste to do something for you,” he added.

‘Susuka’, composed and sung by Kofi Kinaata is a song which advises people to be content with their situations and hope for the best than causing harm to themselves.

The song, produced by Kin Dee, won the artiste Songwriter of the Year at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Due to the content of the song, SP Kofi Sarpong has severally stated that he loves the song and has performed it on many platforms.
