Music unifies all souls on earth because it is the only thing that breaks barriers of emotions, languages, creeds, beliefs, and so on anytime it is well composed. Since awards serve as a way of motivating deserving musicians, award schemes keep the competition on.
There have been so many award schemes in Ghana but one of those that courts public interest all the time is one that deals directly with musicians. Undoubtedly, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is the most popular award scheme in Ghana and everything with them looked well planned until they unanimously banned Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. Having disregarded the enormous fan bases of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, they committed an unpardonable mishap which was condemned by many! After they released a rejoinder claiming to have lifted the ban, many netizens fuffed hysterically at their “concert” because the Dancehall giants have grown beyond award schemes in Ghana.
Well, the second most prestigious award scheme in Ghana now, 3Music award, has also started making unpardonable mistakes. Looking at the artiste of the year category, it is quite weird to have Adina on whilst Bullet of RuffTiwn Records’ Wendy Shay missed out on that list. Why am I even surprised?! Didn’t Shatta Wale miss out on another key category that had Guru’s sworn enemy, Kuami Eugene on?
Whilst Wendy Shay is yet to react to this development, fans have started defending her because they see it as a total cheat (in Fancy Gadam’s voice).
Which other artistes’ miss out on the 3Music award surprised you? Share your thoughts with us.
