Ghana Music Awards Voting Opens
 The text line for voting for the MTN Ghana Music Awards scheme has been activated. Therefore the MTN short code 1767 can be accessed by the general public who are encouraged to take part in the selection process by voting their favourite to win awards via text.
The voting process is simple enough, all one needs to do is send the alphabet representing the category that one wants to vote for to the MTN short code 1767. A reply text will follow with the list of that category and the patron can chose their nominee and send to the short code again. A confirmation text will confirm the validity of the vote. The general publics votes makes up 30% of the decision of who wins what in the Public category (Artiste(s) of the Year, Hiplife/Hip Hop Artiste(s) of the Year, Highlife Artiste(s) of the Year, Gospel Artiste(s) of the Year, Discovery of the Year, Best Collaboration of the year, African Artiste(s) of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, Highlife song of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Afro-Pop Song of the Year, Hip Hop Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the year, Reggae Song of the Year, Best Rapper of the year) while the Selection and Planning Committees make 70% of the decision in those categories. The first of three Selection Committee voting sessions comes off last Saturday 12 March, 2011 at Raybow Hotel in Takoradi. Industry professionals in the Western and Central Regions gathered to make their voices heard in the scheme by voting in both the public and industry categories. The Selection Committees votes makes up 50% of the decision of who wins what in the industry categories while the Planning Committee makes up the other 50% of the decision for the Industry Awards. As promised by organizers during the grand launch of the scheme on 26th of February, the MTN GMA train will make a stoped at Takoradi where an exciting Nominees Party took place at the Paragon Night Club on Saturday March 12, 011 Music lovers were thrilled to party with Trigmatic, Eazzy, Richie and Ziggy of ‘you say weytin’ fame. It was a real fun night that saw patrons dancing all night long to good tunes and lovely performances by the Nominees. The next stop on the MTN GMA calendar is the Gospel Rock show scheduled to come off in Kumasi on Sunday 27th March, 2011 at the Kumasi Cultural Center. The show will be preceded by the Selection Committee votes which will consist of industry professionals from the Ashanti Brong Ahafo and Northern Regions.
